Before embarking on the EV/LES project I was running around in the cold taking pictures of these incredible structures (also in the East Village/Lower East Side) before spring hid them behind foliage. Who knew you could put a house on top a tenement? I certainly didn't. This neighborhood used to be a swamp! Take a look at the EV/LES project to see the state of the neighborhood before someone decided it was possible to actually "build up".

I have more pictures of each structure and have chosen these ones as best for the web. I am hoping to make prints of shots which are more dynamic, more surreal. Hope you enjoy what i have posted here as much as i do, and i will add more as i discover them!
